Hey Jude... Baby Julian {Mebourne Newborn Photographer}

It's said that the sex of babies born goes in phases, for a season there'll be a lot of boys born, then girls... it hasn't really worked that way for me, I seem to get a nice balance between girls and boys, but after photographing a few girls recently it was nice to have another boy to photograph. It did remind me however that I do need to stock up on a few more hats and things for boys. (Yes, I am a victim of seeing cute girly things and going on a bit of a spending spree...) Of course it doesn't help when I have such fabulous suppliers of hats and headbands.

Master Julian (Jude) was a cute little bundle. I'd been waiting for a phone call from his mother, Kelly, whom I'd worked with at the local newspaper for a few years. The last time I saw her she was around 20 weeks pregnant and naturally I had to share some of my work with her... I'm so glad she called and booked in a session after Jude arrived, there's nothing more precious than holding your first baby, except maybe having some beautiful images of a time so fleeting.

Enjoy. xo

Cody ~ 9 months. {Melbourne Childrens Photographer}

If you've been following the progress of Cody's sessions every 3 months either on the blog or on facebook (newborn, 3 months, 6 months) here's the next installment.

We went on location with this session, to another of my new favorite locations. It's a spot I've had in the back of my mind for a while for a newborn location session, but loved the idea of trying it out for Cody's 9 month session.

I fell in love with Cody's adorable chubby cheeks all over again, and his infectious smile now sporting a few teeth. It's been a treat watching him grow, you can almost hear his cute giggle in some of these images.

Enjoy, xo

Hannah ~ tiny and new. {Melbourne Newborn Photographer}

I love when my phone rings and it's a proud mum (or dad) boasting of the arrival of their newborn. Occasionally it's a parent that has been referred to me just after the birth, unfortunately I can't always guarantee availability, but always do my best to fit in a new client, in fact I am yet to turn down a session... (even when I'm officially on holidays - I guess that means I'm a little addicted.)

Hannah's mum called me while she was in hospital after the birth of her sweet little girl, it was the first time we'd spoken and we went instantly into planning mode to arrange a time to do her session.

I had a selection of new little props I was eager to use and was secretly happy I had a little girl to 'play' with and 'dress-up'. Hannah was a dream to work with, maybe being the youngest of four means she's accustomed to a bit of chaos and being shuffled around from pose to pose, but she was a delight to photograph, and eased into most poses. Such a sweet little bundle.

Enjoy. xo

Maternity Sweetness ~ Natalie. {Melbourne Maternity Photographer}

I recently realised I needed to bump up my maternity portfolio (punn intended) and thanks to the wonders of word of mouth I was sent a few enquiries. I always love these sessions, there's a very tangible excitement mixed with a little anxiety surrounding the pending arrival of a new little life.

Natalie and Ryan were great to work with, albeit a little exhausted with the heat, humidity and the lead up to Christmas. We did a few photos at home before heading to a location I had earmarked for a while. You can imagine my joy when we arrived and I looked across the bay to some stunning dark storm clouds rolling in creating the most amazing backdrop to the location images. This was an image I'd had in my mind for a while (though also imagining a newborn session in this location) and I was thrilled to have everything fall into place to capture some of my most favourite maternity images of recent times. (who knows, maybe we can go full circle and capture the newborn images in this same location with similarly stunning light... just putting it out there!)

Enjoy. xo

Little Isla ~ Sweetness in a baby girl package. {Melbourne Newborn Photographer}

As I frantically make sure I get all of my final 2011 sessions blogged I found myself getting lost in the sweetness of this gorgeous little girl. Isla must've known I was itching to photograph a sweet baby girl, she arrived early and I was taken a little by surprise... maybe it's because the theory is that first babies arrive late, or that I went so far over due with my two kidlette's that I never really expect 'early' babies.

Photographing little Isla was pretty easy, and I was thankful she was so calm and chilled through the session (it always makes things easy, and is generally the exception rather than the rule, but this session was shot while I was sporting a rather unrelenting headache due to a back/neck issue that resurfaced, so I was particularly happy to work with such an easy baby)... and really... who doesn't love trying out some baby girl hats and new props?

Enjoy. xo
